This document contains some of the lunar drawings of Jon Pedlar, a past member who joined the Society in the mid 1950’s and Chairman of the Society in the late 1980’s. John was also served as Assistant Directory of the BAA Lunar Section.

At the beginning of the 1970’s the Society embarked on an ambitious project to build the Failand Observatory. Whilst digging out the foundations for the observatory, it was claimed that some ancient scrolls were discovered. These were translated from old Brigstowelian by Alan Quirk and were published in the Societies Skywatch magazine over several issues. […]

He gives possible explanations for what the Star of Bethlehem might have been based on astronomical and astrological events which occurred around the time of the birth of Jesus Christ.
