Maurice Brain (Vice-President and long standing member) has sadly passed away

It is with great sadness that I inform the society of the passing of Maurice Brain.

Maurice passed away on 18th August after a short illness, at the age of 94.

Maurice was a member of the society in the early days of its formation. He and his friends soon joined the committee and helped to open the society up to a wider audience. Maurice was particularly interested in meteor watching and organised many a watch party, taking good records of the sky during the night.

More recently Maurice became one of our Vice-Presidents. He gave regular talks on his favourite topics and talked fondly of his past adventures with the society. He wasn’t able to attend our 80th anniversary dinner, but sent us a letter detailing some points about the early society.

He will be greatly missed by all.
