Astrofest 2025
A group from the Society attended Astrofest 2025 held in the Kensington Conference Centre, London on 7-8 February 2025. Astrofest is an annual international astronomy conference where both professional and amateur astronomers give talks (see photo). There’s also an exhibition of the latest telescopes and imaging instruments from astronomy equipment suppliers. More information on the conference can be found here: Home – European AstroFest 2025.
From the BAS the following members attended: David Bennett, Darren Brown, Chris Lee, Keith Norwood, Roger and Mary-Jane Steer, Neville Taylor, and Stephen Price.
Topics covered in the programme included: magnetic fields and jet formation in super massive black holes, star and planet formation, the dark energy delusion, high-resolution planetary imaging, exoplanets, and Enceladus.
A highlight of the conference was a talk in the final session by Brian May about a new astronomy book he is co-authoring – ‘Islands in Infinity’ (see photo).
It was a very enjoyable two-day astronomy conference and, on the members talk night of 7th March, there will be a summary and highlights of some of the talks in the programme, given by members who attended the conference.
