BAS at Festival of Nature 2026
The BAS were at the Bristol Festival of Nature 13 and 14 of June 2026 with a host of solar telescopes to allow the public to look safely at the Sun.
Our participation in this years Festival of Nature was very successful. For once the weather was very favourable, particularly on the Saturday. We had Lunt telescopes and two white light telescopes in projection mode or with a suitable filter. We recorded 470 persons looking through the telescopes on the Saturday, and 508 on the Sunday. We missed a few people from the count, so we are confident that over 1000 people saw the sun through our equipment over the two days.
As usual the Place the Planets game proved popular, and we had a number of people interested in membership of the Society, observing sessions at Failand, our forthcoming Young Persons Astronomy Course and telescope surgery.
