BAA Outreach Event in Newquay
There’s a very interesting British Astronomical Society (“BAA”) outreach event being held in Newquay, Cornwall on 2 May.
Given the upcoming eclipses we’re using that as the theme. We hope we have put together a programme that has something for everyone, whatever their level of experience. The talks range from an introduction to the night sky, through observing the Sun and Moon, the mechanics and beauty (and wow factor) of eclipses, to a talk about the Artemis Mission.
One thing a bit different is a talk about how the ancients observed the sun, moon and eclipses, with particular reference to Cornish sites. There will also be lots of hands on activities during breaks and lunch – the penguin will be making another appearance! But also solar observing and rocket making at lunchtime too.

It’s a joint event with SPA and hosts Kernow Astronomers.
