The society is very sad to announce the news that Professor Mark Birkinshaw has passed away, after a short illness.
Mark was a member and Vice-President of the society for many years. He was also a regular on our programme of talks, presenting every year. His talks were always engaging, interesting and often on the cutting edge of astro-physics, as he pulled from his research at Bristol University.
He will very much be missed by the society.
