Many of our members have been busy with astrophotography over the last month - see the front cover and page 27 for outstanding images taken by Jane Clark, Chris Lee, David Bennett, Andres Atkinson, Andrew Grasemann and Ryan Parle.
Solar cycle progression data continues to show a slight spike in sunspot numbers over the last two months - predicted numbers are given for the next 12 months, as solar activity is forecast to slowly increase.
February is a good month to observe Uranus, which is now an evening object in Aries - observe it as early as you can both in the evening and in the month.
Constellation of the month is Gemini, which is well placed for observing its stars and deep sky objects.
29 observing targets for the month are listed, with more details given for the open clusters M35 (Gemini), M37 (Cancer) and NGC 2392, the Eskimo Nebula, in Gemini.
There is an asteroid occultation to observe on 22nd February - thanks to Nigel Wakefield for providing the information.
Society News includes details of the 2022 programme of talks, with meetings at Unit 13 set to resume from 18th March - these will be 'hybrid' meetings which will also be available over Zoom.
