BASIL Oct 2021

Observing sessions and star parties will be restarting from October - see the monthly calendar for more details.

October is a good month to observe Jupiter, the planetary surface features and moons.

There are two asteroid occultations in October - Asteroid (165) Loreley and Asteroid (2) Pallas (information provided by Nigel Wakefield).

Visible passes of the ISS are given for the month.

32 astronomical events and 13 observing targets for the month are listed, with more details given for M2, M15, M29, Mu-Cephei (Hershel's Garnet Star) and the Orionid meteor shower.

Society News includes programme details, with meetings at Unit 13 restarting from 1st October - members are welcome to attend in person or join online via Zoom.

Society News also shows some photos from the BAS summer BBQ at Failand last month.
